Pictures & Video from the photoshoot

What a happy dog!  When I got to Missy's house I was greeted by a happy, nub wagging puppy who was "hopping" his way to the door.  I will admit before I went I was concerned about finding a puppy who was unhappy and in obvious pain but there was none of that.  Buster was happy to play w/ his toys, his foster brother, and us.  Such a cutie!!  As the saying goes.."A picture is worth a thousand words" so I will just post the pics instead of rambling on...

my photo shoot day

Hello everyone ;-)
I just want to say Thank You to all who have supported me !
I am home with my foster family and so far it has been great , I have a huge fluffy bed , but i like the couch better and sitting on mama's lap , she's fluffy too. My friend Leo (a really big weim) , he lives here too ! He is fun to play with and he shares everything with me ! Today , Jamie came over to visit me and to take some picture's of me and Leo. It was tough , well not really , I just sat around and she did all the work ! They (the humans) will post them soon  , so you can see all the love and comfort I have here. Also the Doctor said I am a really good guy and that I'm doing very well :-) On Wednesday the 27th I go back for a check-up and bandage changes .
I hope that i get some funky new wraps maybe in green or purple. Purple is my little girl who live here, favorite color but I must say blue goes with my eyes. Well , it is time for my nap , must go find mama for a cuddle.

Surgery number 1 is complete!!

Several days ago we sent an email out requesting help for Buster.  The response has been overwhelming and we are so thankful to all of you who have donated.  Many people that received our email about Buster began sharing the email with friends and family.  Donations have come in from all over the world.   We have already received $2300 in paypal donations and have over $1000 of donations promised by mail.  Busters first surgery costs with aftercare is an estimated $5000 so we are more than half way there!

We also have been contacted by many people offering us information and alternatives to consider for Buster.  We have spent a lot of time over the past few days reviewing this information, reading articles, and speaking with multiple professionals to make sure we were making the best decision medically for Buster.  The conclusion we have come to is that the deformity to Busters bones already are too severe to be corrected without at least the first surgery.  We are hoping that he may not need the second surgery but will not be able to decide on that until after 4-6 months.

Buster was scheduled for his first surgery this morning.  He came out of surgery early afternoon and it was reported that everything went great.  We will receive another update this evening as he begins to wake up.  He will hopefully go home with his foster mom on Thursday and we will send another update out early next week.

Our current goal is to raise $5000 for Buster.  We will keep everyone posted and let everyone know when we reach that goal.  Anyone who donates after we reach that goal will be contacted and informed of the following:
Anyone who would like their donation returned at any point can please contact us and we will send you a refund for the donation made.
All donations over the $5000 goal for Buster's 1st surgery are going to be put into a separate fund that will be used if he does need the 2nd surgery.
If Buster does not need the 2nd surgery any leftover funds that have not been requested refunded will remain in a separate fund that designated for use ONLY for medical treatment of our rescue weims.
We will continue to document and update everyone on Busters progress by email and we will also be creating a blog for his foster family to update.

Again we thank you for the outpouring of support we received for Buster. We know its tough out there especially in light of all that is going on in the world right now.  But we really felt this boy is worth it.  He's so young, very sweet and just taking everything in stride.

Can we help this puppy??

I often receive emails from all over begging us to help weims in need.  Many times the weims are located in areas out of our reach but we typically respond letting the people know if the dogs can get to our area we will do our best to help.  A lot of times..I never here back.

I got a very short and to-the-point email:
This dog NEEDS RESCUE NOW!!!!!!  AND TRANSPORT NOW!!!!  CAN ANYONE HELP THIS PUP OUT?

GLADE SPRING, VA  EMAIL ME ASAP AT ---------------------@aol.com or call me at ???-???-????

Along with the email was a picture..

After consulting with our board and finding out that his current rescue (with the help of many volunteers) were able to get Rocky to PA we decided we were prepared to try to help.

Within a few days Rocky was on his way to his new foster mom (Missy) and his new life where he became known as "Buster".

This blog will mostly be updated by Missy (Busters foster mom) but some may also be updated by a some of our other volunteers (like myself) at times.  I will be visiting with Buster throughout his treatment to take pictures and video and help keep everyone posted as well.

These pictures than many people have already seen were taken the first day I met Buster at his visit with surgeon.  Buster greeted me immediately as I walked through the door like any other happy weim puppy.  Jumpy, mouthy, and very playful!
