Surgery number 1 is complete!!

Several days ago we sent an email out requesting help for Buster.  The response has been overwhelming and we are so thankful to all of you who have donated.  Many people that received our email about Buster began sharing the email with friends and family.  Donations have come in from all over the world.   We have already received $2300 in paypal donations and have over $1000 of donations promised by mail.  Busters first surgery costs with aftercare is an estimated $5000 so we are more than half way there!

We also have been contacted by many people offering us information and alternatives to consider for Buster.  We have spent a lot of time over the past few days reviewing this information, reading articles, and speaking with multiple professionals to make sure we were making the best decision medically for Buster.  The conclusion we have come to is that the deformity to Busters bones already are too severe to be corrected without at least the first surgery.  We are hoping that he may not need the second surgery but will not be able to decide on that until after 4-6 months.

Buster was scheduled for his first surgery this morning.  He came out of surgery early afternoon and it was reported that everything went great.  We will receive another update this evening as he begins to wake up.  He will hopefully go home with his foster mom on Thursday and we will send another update out early next week.

Our current goal is to raise $5000 for Buster.  We will keep everyone posted and let everyone know when we reach that goal.  Anyone who donates after we reach that goal will be contacted and informed of the following:
Anyone who would like their donation returned at any point can please contact us and we will send you a refund for the donation made.
All donations over the $5000 goal for Buster's 1st surgery are going to be put into a separate fund that will be used if he does need the 2nd surgery.
If Buster does not need the 2nd surgery any leftover funds that have not been requested refunded will remain in a separate fund that designated for use ONLY for medical treatment of our rescue weims.
We will continue to document and update everyone on Busters progress by email and we will also be creating a blog for his foster family to update.

Again we thank you for the outpouring of support we received for Buster. We know its tough out there especially in light of all that is going on in the world right now.  But we really felt this boy is worth it.  He's so young, very sweet and just taking everything in stride.
